Which Manchester fireworks display should you choose?
For a free family evening, the council's displays at Heaton Park, Platt Fields Park and Wythenshawe Park are the obvious starting point. All three have earlier reduced-noise fireworks as well as the main show.
If you've got younger children who aren't keen on loud bangs, Cockfields Farm's low-bang display or the earlier council fireworks are worth considering. For a completely different experience without real fireworks, try Printworks.
Want a traditional bonfire? Prince's Park in Irlam, Bowdon Bonfire and the Rochdale borough events are worth a look.
And if your children love fairground rides, food stalls and a bit of an occasion, Bowdon and Reddish Vale Farm both offer plenty alongside the fireworks.
Before you go: Parking, tickets and keeping the kids happy
A little planning makes Bonfire Night much easier, particularly if you're taking younger children.
Check parking before leaving. Some displays have no on-site parking, while others have limited spaces or temporary restrictions. Don't assume normal venue parking arrangements apply.
Book ticketed events in advance. Some community displays don't offer tickets on the gate.
Check the fireworks start time. The advertised opening time isn't necessarily when the fireworks begin. An extra two hours standing in the cold can feel considerably longer with a four-year-old.
Take ear defenders. Even reduced-noise displays can be loud, particularly for children who are sensitive to sudden noises.
Wrap up properly. Hats, gloves, warm socks and waterproof shoes are worth packing.
Check for last-minute changes. Strong winds and other weather conditions can affect outdoor fireworks displays.
Bonfire Night falls on Thursday 5 November in 2026, but events are spread across the weekends either side, so there's plenty of opportunity to find a date that works.
Enjoy the fireworks, Manchester!
