The Science and Industry Museum in Manchester's Castlefield is a free, daily museum exploring 250 years of world-changing discoveries and innovations that began in the city.

Set on a historically significant site in Castlefield, the museum takes visitors from the Industrial Revolution through to today's cutting-edge innovations. Current highlights include:
- Horrible Science: Cosmic Chaos — a premiere exhibition running until January 2027, packed with out-of-this-world science
- Revolution Manchester gallery — world-changing ideas from Manchester's industrial past to the present day
- Experiment — a free, hands-on interactive gallery for all the family, with live demonstrations from museum Explainers
- Power Up — a celebrated gaming experience, open weekends and school holidays
- Textiles Gallery — thunderous machines and the story of cotton's global legacy
Please note: a multi-million-pound restoration programme is currently underway, meaning some areas — including the 1830 Station and Warehouse — are temporarily closed. The museum remains open throughout. Find out more about what's open during the restoration.
