Moss Side Powerhouse Library is one of Manchester’s most distinctive community libraries, based within the Moss Side Powerhouse youth centre. Designed with input from local teenagers, the space features bold colours, vibrant furnishings and a welcoming atmosphere that makes it feel very different from a traditional library setting.

The library has a strong focus on young people and families, with collections including graphic novels, teen fiction and resources for young parents. Alongside books, visitors can access free wifi, computers, printing and photocopying services, newspapers and magazines, employment advice and health information support.

Regular community activities help make the library a lively local hub throughout the week. Weekly Story Time sessions for under 5s take place during term time, while the Wednesday Age Friendly Coffee Morning offers a welcoming social space and additional support for older visitors.

Outside, the raised-bed community garden provides another shared space for local residents to enjoy, alongside community groups such as the knitting club. The venue also includes exhibition space and meeting rooms available for hire, helping support a wide range of community activity in Moss Side.

Parking is available on site.
