Manchester Poetry Library is based in the heart of Manchester — a UNESCO City of Literature — on the Manchester Metropolitan University campus in Grosvenor East on Cavendish Street. The library is free and open to the public, welcoming anyone who is interested in or curious about poetry, from first-time readers to professional poets and researchers.

The library holds an extensive and growing collection of contemporary poetry, spanning books, recordings, and works in multiple languages. It is the only poetry library in the UK to be supported by a university, building on Manchester Met's long-standing reputation for poetry and creative writing through the Manchester Writing School.

As well as its collections, the library runs a rich programme of events, learning activities, and community projects, working locally, regionally, and nationally to celebrate language in all its diversity. The space is fully wheelchair accessible, with level access throughout, accessible toilets on the ground floor, and a welcoming café, bar, and restaurant on site.
