The Clayton Best Start in Life Family Hub opened in spring 2026, becoming the fifth such hub to open in Manchester, following the success of hubs in Longsight, Wythenshawe, Cheetham Hill and Gorton. Located at the Clayton Sure Start Centre on North Road, the hub provides joined-up, accessible support for families across the Clayton, Beswick and Openshaw neighbourhoods — all under one roof and completely free to access.

The hub offers a wide-ranging programme of information, advice and practical support, helping families to navigate services both within the hub and across the local area. It has a particular focus on the earliest years of life, with an enhanced Start for Life offer supporting parents and carers from conception through to a child's second birthday. Support for children and young people continues well beyond that, with the hub serving families with children up to 19 years of age — or up to 25 for those with special educational needs or disabilities. Expectant parents also warmly welcomed!

The hub brings together a range of services and partners in one welcoming community space, with activities including sessions for babies and toddlers, parenting groups, and access to health, wellbeing and family support services. Its opening forms part of Manchester City Council's wider Best Start in Life strategy, which sets out the city's commitment to ensuring every child in Manchester can learn, play, develop strong relationships and reach their full potential.
