Inside, visitors will find a welcoming and modern space offering far more than just books. There are dedicated areas for children and families, free Wi-Fi, public computers, exhibitions, events, and plenty of quiet corners for studying or relaxing.

The library is also home to archives, local history resources and the Henry Watson Music Library, making it a fantastic place to explore Manchester’s heritage or dive into creative inspiration.

Whether you’re looking for a peaceful place to read, somewhere to work, or simply want to admire one of Manchester’s most impressive buildings, Central Library is a must-visit spot for all ages.

Children's Library in Manchester

This fantastic new children’s library has a jungle theme and provides flexible spaces for storytimes and class visits to take place, as well as child-sized seating for children to make the library their very own. With a wide range of stock - from board books for babies, picture books and older fiction to dual language stories and non-fiction - there really is something for everyone.

There are baby changing facilities, a nursing room and a café in the library.
