Founded in 2004, Projekts MCR is one of the UK's leading community skateparks, set beneath the dramatic arch of the Mancunian Way flyover just outside Manchester city centre. The 1,400sqm concrete park features a mix of street, transition and flat ground terrain and is open to skaters of all abilities, from complete beginners to experienced riders. All staff are DBS checked and First Aid trained.
Alongside open skate sessions, Projekts runs a packed programme of coached community sessions throughout the week. Weekend skateboard coaching for ages 5 to 17 takes place every Saturday and Sunday across three ability levels, while dedicated sessions include Adults Only on Wednesday evenings, Women and Girls on Thursday evenings, Home Education sessions on Wednesday and Thursday mornings during term time, and a Toddler Takeover on Friday mornings. Holiday skate clubs run Monday to Friday during school holidays. Monthly passes and sibling discounts are available, and the Projekts Access Fund offers subsidised entry for children whose families are on Universal Credit.
On site, the independent café serves artisan coffee, homemade cakes and a full food menu — a welcoming spot for skaters and spectators alike. The facility is fully wheelchair accessible throughout, with a disabled access toilet on the ground floor and a platform lift to the upstairs seating area and balcony viewing platform. The venue is also available for private hire, including birthday party lock-ins, events, film and TV shoots, and meeting room bookings via the Board Room.
