Outdoor Art Club is a free, drop-in outdoor workshop programme run by the Whitworth Art Gallery, set within the beautiful surroundings of Whitworth Park. Designed with young children in mind — particularly those aged two to eight — the sessions offer a playful, nature-inspired space where little ones can move freely between activities at their own pace.
Children can splash around at the water play station, get creative in the mud painting studio and cook up all sorts of wonderful concoctions at the potion stations. The sessions take place outdoors come rain or shine, so families are encouraged to dress for the weather — waterproofs and wellies are strongly recommended, especially in the cooler months.
The sessions are rooted in a belief that connecting children with nature early helps to build a positive relationship with the environment, nurturing the next generation of climate change makers through play-based, hands-on exploration.
If the sessions are at full capacity on arrival, families can explore Whitworth Park using the Welly Walks booklet or enjoy time at the nearby play park while they wait.
