Families can step back in time and enjoy a miniature railway experience on the site of the historic Liverpool and Manchester Railway, the world’s first inter-city passenger railway.

Hosted by Little British Rail, the miniature steam railway takes visitors on a short journey around the museum’s Upper Yard, surrounded by the historic buildings and engineering heritage of the Science and Industry Museum.

While waiting for your train ride, children can enjoy hands-on Curiosity Stops exploring how engines work, alongside outdoor garden games including Connect 4, Quoits and Cornhole. There will also be deckchairs, snacks, drinks and ice creams available outside.

Visitors can combine their railway ride with a full day exploring the museum’s galleries, including the mighty steam engines inside Power Hall: The Andrew Law Gallery, interactive exhibits and family activities running throughout May half term.

Please note there will be no miniature steam railway rides on Saturday 30th May or Sunday 31st May.
