Didsbury Park in Manchester
Didsbury Park is a popular community park surrounded by residential streets and located close to Didsbury village centre. It is one of the first municipal planned parks in Manchester and was redesigned in the 1920s to include recreational features for local residents, some of which are still enjoyed today.
Play area and sports facilities
Didsbury Park has a children’s play area as well as a multi use sports area, football pitch and bowling green, making it a good option for a family park trip with something for different ages.
Nature and green space
The park mainly consists of amenity grassland, woodland and flora, and also includes a bird garden. It is a pleasant spot for dog walks, casual play and relaxed afternoons outdoors.
Café and community feel
There is a café garden in the park, and Didsbury Park has a strong community spirit thanks to the Friends of Didsbury Park, a registered charity that helps enhance, promote and protect the space. The group says its volunteers meet every Monday, including Bank Holidays, and play a central role in improving the park.
Volunteering and local support
The Friends group welcomes local people to volunteer, donate or become members. Membership costs £10 a year per person, and the charity was awarded The King’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2023.
