If you're looking for a brilliant community day out packed with tradition, entertainment and family fun, Charlesworth & Chisworth Carnival is a much-loved annual event that brings the whole village together.

Charlesworth & Chisworth Carnival

• Dates: Saturday 11th July 2026
• Location: Village Green (Recreation Ground), Charlesworth, Derbyshire, SK13
• Price: Free entry (charges may apply for some activities)

The day kicks off with the traditional carnival parade, setting off from St Margaret’s School at 12.30pm and making its way through the village before arriving at the recreation ground around 1pm. 

Once on the field, there’s plenty going on for all ages including live entertainment, a wide variety of food and drink stalls, children’s activities and community stalls to explore throughout the afternoon. 

Highlights of the day include the crowning of the Carnival Queen at 2pm, the popular fell race starting at 2.30pm, and prize giving for competitions including floats, fancy dress and scarecrows later in the afternoon.

The carnival has a real village feel and is run by local volunteers, making it a fantastic way to support the community while enjoying a relaxed summer day out with family and friends.
