Buile Hill Park is one of Salford’s most important and well-used public parks, known for its size, history and variety of outdoor facilities. It is also one of only two Registered Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in the city, reflecting its national heritage significance.
Gardens, heritage and open space
The park combines wide open green spaces with wooded areas and landscaped paths, making it ideal for walking, relaxing and exploring nature. At its heart is the historic Buile Hill Mansion, a Grade II listed building with strong cultural and historical connections to the area.
The park has links to notable figures including artist L.S. Lowry, who is known to have regularly visited the site, and author Frances Hodgson Burnett, who is rumoured to have drawn inspiration here for The Secret Garden.
