BOOBS Breastfeeding Cafes have been bringing parents together since 2018, when Breastfeeding in Salford created the events in response to mums saying they didn't know where to go to meet others in the same situation. The first cafe was held in Ordsall in May 2018 and sessions have taken place nearly every month since — including online during the pandemic — supporting over 560 mums through the cafes since 2021.

Held on the last Friday of the month from 10am to 12pm, each cafe takes place at a different BOOBS Approved venue, creating an informal, relaxed space where parents can have a brew, meet others and feed their baby somewhere they feel comfortable and supported. The BOOBS team are always on hand — whether for a listening ear, peer support advice, or simply to hold the baby while you enjoy a hot drink.

The cafes are open to everyone, whether you are currently breastfeeding, have recently stopped, or simply want a friendly space to connect with other parents. Siblings are welcome during school holidays, and you are never under any obligation to buy anything at the venue, though attendees are encouraged to support the host where they can. Occasionally the team may have funding to cover refreshments or activities for all.
